This is a 1,000 mm long wire mesh sleeve with a 9 mm internal diameter, designed to receive an 8 mm stud when used with injection resin anchors. Its primary use is to form a controlled, confined cavity in hollow or perforated masonry and lightweight blockwork so that chemical (injection) resin can form a secure bond around a threaded stud, threaded rod or rebar.

The sleeve is manufactured from welded steel mesh with a hot-dip galvanised finish to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard, giving good surface protection against corrosion in typical construction environments. The mesh is sized to suit an 8 mm nominal bar or M8 metric threaded stud (ISO metric coarse thread), and is intended for use with anchor rods and studs conforming to ISO 898-1 and with stainless options to BS EN 10088 available on request for more aggressive environments. As a passive component the sleeve has no head, drive or thread itself; compatibility is with common M8 (and close-fit M8/M9) studs and injection resins (polyester, vinylester or epoxy systems) used in chemical anchoring.

In practice the wire mesh sleeve is pushed into the pre-drilled hole in hollow block, aerated concrete, brick or similar substrates before injecting resin. The sleeve prevents resin flow-back into the void, creates a mechanical cage for the cured resin and stud, and improves load transfer across voids and thin webs. Typical applications include fixing structural and non-structural items to masonry (handrails, gateposts, service supports, shelving), M&E fixings, façade anchors and repair anchors where through-bolt solutions are impractical.
