The handle is manufactured from A‑grade beech hardwood with a clear lacquer finish to resist oil and mild workshop contaminants while retaining good tactile grip. It features a steel ferrule (zinc plated) at the mouth to prevent splitting and to secure the file tang. The handle accepts standard tapered tangs found on most hand files; no thread is required (thread type: none). Head type is a closed, rounded shoulder with a ferrule; drive type is not applicable for this product.

This file handle is compatible with files produced to common international tang dimensions used in BS, DIN and ISO file standards, so it will suit the majority of hand files used in metalworking and woodworking.
