The Screw Extractor No.2 (Draper Tools Group D, DR34730) is a single, left‑hand spiral extractor designed to remove broken, seized or damaged screws and small bolts. Its primary use is to bite into the remaining shank or broken head of a fastener so the extractor can be turned counter‑clockwise and back the damaged screw or bolt out of the workpiece.

This extractor is manufactured from high‑carbon tool steel and is heat treated to provide the hardness required for reliable extraction. The working surface has a black oxide / phosphate style finish to reduce corrosion and improve lubricity when cutting into a damaged fastener. The tool features a tapered, reverse‑spiral flute profile that progressively bites into the damaged material as torque is applied. The shank is formed to accept a 1/4in (6.35 mm) square drive tap wrench or T‑handle, and it can also be used with a small adjustable extractor holder or low‑speed drill chuck when a guided pilot hole is required.

Although extractors are not governed by a single universal standard, the No.2 extractor is compatible with common thread forms such as ISO metric and imperial threads (BSW/BSF, UNC/UNF) and is intended for the typical small to medium screw sizes found in maintenance and repair work. For best results drill an appropriate pilot hole in the broken fastener before inserting the extractor; left‑hand drill bits are often used to reduce the chance of further tightening the broken piece.

Typical applications include motor vehicle repair, plant and machinery maintenance, general engineering, joinery, plumbing and electrical work where removal of corroded or sheared screws is required.
