The Tinmans Shears Straight 250MM are hand-operated straight-cut shears designed for cutting thin-gauge sheet materials such as tinplate, aluminium, copper, brass and light galvanised steel. Their primary use is in metalworking trades where a straight, accurate cut is required along lengths of sheet metal—typical tasks include trimming flash, cutting roofing and cladding, ductwork fabrication and general sheet-metal pattern work.

The blades are manufactured from high-carbon tool steel that has been heat-treated and tempered to provide a hard, wear-resistant cutting edge (typical hardness range HRC 52–58). Blades are precision ground and honed to a sharp, durable edge and finished to resist corrosion with a protective black phosphate/oxidised coating while the ground cutting face is left bright for a clean shear. Construction uses a drop-forged, box-joint design with a hardened rivet to maintain blade alignment and minimise play during repeated use. As a hand tool, the shears do not involve threads, heads or drives; their cutting geometry is straight with a full-length blade to deliver an even, burr-minimised cut.

These shears are made in accordance with recognised hand-tool manufacturing practices and quality systems and conform to relevant DIN/ISO/BS expectations for hand-operated cutting tools.
