This is a 16 mm × 2 HSS die nut for cutting or repairing external ISO metric threads on rods, studs and bolts. Its primary use is to re-cut damaged threads or to form new M16 × 2 external threads on shafts and bar stock where a robust, accurate metric thread profile is required. The die nut accepts the standard ISO metric 60° thread form and produces a thread spacing of 2.0 mm (M16 × 2).

The component is manufactured from M2 high speed steel (HSS) and supplied with a precision ground finish to the cutting faces. The HSS material provides the combination of hardness and toughness required for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The die conforms to the ISO metric thread profile (see ISO 68‑1 / ISO 261) and is produced to conventional die tolerances suitable for general engineering and maintenance use. The external form of the die nut is made to suit a conventional die stock or spanner drive, and the internal cutting edges are relieved to control chip flow and reduce work hardening on the parent material.
