Its primary use is to terminate stranded copper conductors into crimped connections for electrical installations, control panels, automotive wiring and general maintenance work where consistent contact and strain relief are required.

The tool is 220mm long and manufactured from drop‑forged carbon steel, hardened and tempered with crimping dies ground to a durable working hardness (approximately HRC 48–54). The body is finished with polished chrome plating to resist corrosion; the handles are PVC‑dipped to give a comfortable non‑slip grip (these handles are not VDE electrical insulating certified). The head contains hex‑shaped crimp cavities sized for ferrules and terminals, operated by an internal ratchet mechanism that ensures a full crimp cycle before release. Thread type is not applicable to this tool; the drive type is a ratchet action suitable for controlled incremental closing of the dies.

This crimping tool is suitable for ferrules to DIN 46228 and for many terminals designed to EN/IEC 60999 connection requirements, giving compatibility with common European terminal specifications.
