This 3.3mm cobalt stub drill manufactured to DIN 1897 is a short-length twist drill designed for accurate, rigid drilling of small holes in metal where minimal flex and fast chip evacuation are required. Its primary use is in precision metalworking, maintenance and toolroom operations where a stub-length flute gives better concentricity and reduced breakage compared with jobber-length drills.

Material and construction are high-speed steel with cobalt (HSSE, commonly M35 grade with approximately 5% cobalt) to provide improved red-hardness and wear resistance over conventional HSS. The drill is supplied with a straight (cylindrical) shank designed for standard three-jaw chucks and toolholders, a two-flute twist geometry and a standard 118° point angle for general-purpose metal drilling. Flutes are ground to a bright finish to aid chip formation and reduce built-up edge.
