This 16 mm x 1.5 HSS split die is a hand and machine cutting tool designed to cut, restore and size M16 fine‑pitch (1.5 mm) ISO metric threads on round bar, rod and tubular components. Its primary use is the production or repair of right‑hand M16×1.5 threads where a finer pitch is required for improved clamping control, vibration resistance and increased thread engagement compared with the M16 coarse pitch.

The die is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS), commonly M2 or an equivalent grade, heat‑treated and precision ground to retain cutting hardness and wear resistance. The tool carries a black oxide finish to help reduce corrosion and minimise galling during cutting. It is a round, split die with a through‑split and clamping screw, giving a small adjustment range for cutting clearance and for fine tuning thread fit. The cutter geometry includes chamfered lead‑in faces for reliable start and chip control. This product is intended for use with standard die stocks (T‑handle holders or ratchet die holders) rather than direct machine spindle mounting.

The 16×1.5 split die produces ISO metric thread form compatible with ISO 68‑1 and ISO 965 series tolerances; the format and construction conform to recognised round split die practice such as DIN 223 where applicable. It cuts right‑hand threads and is suitable for use in low to medium production or maintenance environments.
